I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth and am still teaching your children!! It seems like no matter how late I stay at school (and some days it's LATE), updating our page never gets done.
Book orders went home this week and are due on Wednesday, May 9. This will be the FINAL order of the school year. This is a great time to stock up on inexpensive books for summer reading!
A lot of our time over the past 2 weeks has been spent preparing for Mass, the concert, square dancing and our reader's theater plays. I have to say they did a fantastic job at all of them!! They got a little shy (and tired) during our reader's theater on special visitor's day, but I know they got a lot out of them and were definitely learning to project their voices and read with expression.
It was wonderful to see so many visitors yesterday. I hope they enjoyed their time at SWS!
We had a presentation about our flag by an American Legion member on Wednesday. Each child received a comic style book about the flag and a small flag to keep at home. Many children discovered a selection about American symbols in our new reading book and were excited to read and learn more about our flag.
We also watched the 3rd graders perform their reader's theater on Wednesday. It was fun to see and informational as well!
NWEA tests went great. Almost everyone reached both their math and reading goals. I saw some tremendous growth in the students-very exciting!!
We started a new chapter book today-book one from the "Chime Travelers" series. I really like this series, especially since they were specifically written for Catholic kids. The author does a wonderful job of incorporating the faith into the story. I hope the children will get excited about the series.
